ANI STAFFORD TOWNSEND, Bristol, UK

Ani is a theatrical milliner and costume maker with 10 years experience, having trained at Wimbledon College of Art, part the University of Arts. She also has skill and experience in metal-smithing, dyeing, knitting, prop making, teaching and supervision. Ani specialises in period, theatre, ballet and unusual millinery and wire work. She predominantly works freelance for theatre and film productions and is resident milliner at Welsh National Opera.
Ani has taught at Wimbledon College of Art and Coleg Morgannwg, both award winning costume BA courses. Ani also runs courses from her studio in Bristol. These include:
Beginner & Intermediary: Students will leave having watched demonstrations for various extra skills; blocked, sized, trimmed & finished 1 felt one piece hat such as a cloche or trilby; blocked and trimmed 1 sinamay hat with separate crown and brim.

Advanced millinery: Students will leave having watched demonstrations for various extra skills; blocked, sized, trimmed & finished 1 felt two piece hat such as a top hat; blocked and trimmed 1 sinamay hat with separate crown and brim; blocked and covered a crown or pill box hat with fabric

Advanced Millinery Skills: Students will leave having watched demonstrations for various extra skills, 1 buckram hat block; 1 pill box hat with veiling, feathers and silk tooled flower; a box to keep their creation in.

HAT IN A DAY. Make a simple cocktail hat in a day
FASCINATOR PARTIES. Perfect for hens, team building or group adventures to the races.
STUDIO DAYS. Students who have studied with Ani on either her own introductory courses or have completed similar introductions elsewhere are able to attend studio days, where students can work upon their own projects with use of Ani’s facilities and advice.
