• Learning how to block a button and brim using traditional techniques of steaming and pinning over a vast choice of wooden blocks.
• Practical knowledge of how to edge with wire and a bias piece and also create different brim edgings.
• Learning the techniques involved for sitting the button under the crown to create a Dior Style Look
• Knowledge of balancing trim positioning and finishing a hat to couture standard.

Level – Advanced

You will need:

4 -5 metres of sinamay (should you work fast and wish you could also use this technique to also create a Parisisal button and brim hat – if so you will also need a large Parisisal Capeline)
2 metres of brim reed or spring wire
1.5 metres of petersham
Brim Block
Round Button Block

You will leave with:

• A finished button and brim hat.
• Knowledge of how to technically create a button and brim hat in order to make more.
• Inspiration and knowledge in how to adapt this technique to create different looks with different materials
