Flower Artistry

June 29, 2020 - July 5, 2020

Tutor: Galina Kofod

Galina Kofod is famous for her incredible flowers made from vastly different materials such as silk, leather and thermoplastic. Using her knowledge of the Japanese flower making school, she has developed her own style and technique creating leather and EVA FOAM flowers. With this technique, Galina achieves a perfect reflection of nature. She also enjoys the contrast of creating fantasy flowers.
Galina Kofod is a popular and in demand International Millinery and Jewellery Tutor. She has held numerous workshops, all around Australia, including two International Millinery Conventions. She has conducted classes in France, USA, Spain, Russia and England.

Flower Artistry

Students will go through all the stages of creating flowers from the silk, leather, suede and EVA FOAM. This will include the preparation of materials, dying them, making patterns, assembling and finishing techniques.
In this workshop the students will have the opportunity to learn a famous Japanese flower making technique, Somebana. This enables the students to individualise each and every flower. The flowers made using this technique look much more realistic than flowers made with traditional flower making techniques. Based on the Japanese silk flower making technique, students will learn how to apply this knowledge and skills to leather, suede and EVA FOAM.
Students will make several custom leather, suede, silk and EVA FOAM flowers. They will also learn how to modify existing patterns and design their own flowers.
