Growing a Millinery Business
June 8 - June 9
Love hats but stumped on how to market them? Making hats is the easy part, selling can be the hard part. In this two day workshop, we will creatively find ways to jump that hurdle. Polly went from making hats in her apartment to ending up in the Winner’s Circle at the Kentucky Derby. You can too! Confused at how to set up your business? Do you want interns or assistance? Does accounting overwhelm you?
- DAY ONE – Polly can help by offering realistic guidelines for managing your millinery business and making it a paying profession.
We will take a two hour break from 5:00 to 7:00 and dine as a group at a local restaurant. You are encouraged to wear a percher, fascinator or regular hat for our outing. Following our dinner we will return to the studio for more instruction. An outline will be provided but additional note taking is advised!
- DAY TWO – Begin the second day with a hands on workshop focusing on your questions on hat construction. Bring a hat that you have a question about or one simply that you want to finish in class. After a brief lunch break, we will discuss market options and where to sell you hat. We will discuss price and demographics for your design.
