What you will learn

On this 2 day course you will go home with, not only a stylish and contemporary hat but the skills to develop your own patterns and variations on these classic styles. Learn the construction methods required to produce a professionally finished baker boy hat, peaked cap or beret. Working with provided patterns you will learn how to combine fabric and interlinings to create a soft hat and gain skills and knowledge that can be used to develop your own pieces. No previous experience of millinery is required but hand sewing and machine sewing skills are essential.

By the end of the course you will be able to

  • Cut out and construct a soft patterned hat
  • Select and use appropriate materials and interlinings for soft patterned hats
  • Understand construction techniques for different styles
  • Develop your own designs and draft simple patterns
