Jan Wutkowski has been making hats since 1995 and has been teaching since 1998. She teaches throughout the United States, primarily at nationally known arts and crafts schools, and has twice taught at the International Millinery Forum in Australia, as well as the Wombourne School of Millinery in the UK. Private classes are held in her atelier in Wilmington, North Carolina, and are developed according to the attendee’s experience levels.
Jan studied under Waltraud Reiner at the Melbourne (Australia) School of Millinery, and now owns aMuse: artisanal finery, a wearable art/custom hatmaking business, where she creates one-of-a-kind hats, headpieces, and bridal veils. She was recently awarded a 2009 Hatty Award for her contributions to the millinery industry.
