tomasmontoya3La Coquita was established in December 2008 by creator and designer, Tomas Montoya. He is an architect with ten years experience in theater and dance training and he studied at LaSalle College. He has worked in stage design and costume design.

La Coquita design headpieces, fascinators, hats and all types of head accessories for both men and women. Mostly vintage inspired but with a contemporary and a free-style twist; lots of birds, veiling, fruit and colors. All designs are unique hand made pieces, done with care and excellence for all occasions.

La Coquito have made special collections for designer Olga Piedrahita as well as participated in fashion editorials for Infashion magazine. They have also designed for Television.

La Coquita are now running millinery workshops that will be based on availability. Courses will run with a minimum of 5 students. Intensive 5 day workshops or special workshops by group or individuals are available on request.

Beginner modules are:
Fascinator basics, structures and trimming.
Classic fabric pillbox or slant fabric pillbox, with trimming.
Fabric covered buckram foundation, vintage or classic, with trimming.
Pattern fabric vintage hats.
Basics of felt and straw blocking and design.

Prices range from (150.000 pesos to 350.000) depending on the schedule and duration. Buckram will be included in foundation courses. Courses are taught in Spanish or English.
