Beginners Millinery 1 with Sally-Ann Provan (monthly)

5 full-day sessions over 5 months, £750 (including materials)

10am-4.30pm at the studio, with a 30 minute break for lunch.

course runs 1 day a month for 5 months, inclusive.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

Making pillboxes from sinamay straw.

Making headpieces and fascinators on a headband.

Learning techniques with sinamay and crin.

Learning basic techniques with feathers to make trimmings and headpieces.

Hat finishing techniques – wiring, attaching trimmings, making and fitting head-fitting ribbons, attaching elastics and combs.

At the end of the course you should have gained the knowledge detailed above, and have 2 finished sinamay pillbox hats and 2 fascinator/headpieces (dependent on each individual).

SKILL LEVEL:

Beginners: You don’t need any previous experience.

Hand sewing – you should know how to running stitch, slip stitch, and skills needed to sew on a button.

Choose from a wide selection of colours of materials and different types of feathers, to design and create your own unique headwear. You will learn how to manipulate the materials to create different designs.
