Block and line a Crown headdress

Saturday 8th May 2021. 9am to 1.30pm GMT and repeated 3pm – 5.30pm GMT
(This course is also suitable for flat or shaped bandeau blocks as well as crown blocks)
There are many ways of making a crown headdress.
This 4 ½ hour course will give you the confidence to make crowns with neat and finished linings.
Denise Innes-Spencer has written of 2 ways to block a crown in ‘The Hat Magazine’. She now teaches online another method of making these popular headdresses.
Course tutor, Denise Innes-Spencer, is an expert in making hats for TV and Film has made many hats for a wide range of productions, from costume dramas to sci-fi.
Through this innovative course, Denise shares a unique set of skills, tips and techniques not taught by any other milliner.
This course is suitable for improving milliners and not suitable for beginners. A knowledge of wet and dry blocking, wiring/joining is essential for this course.

COURSE CONTENT
Students will learn:
- how to use a wooden block
- how to block straw fabric over the shape to make a join under the crown.
- many wiring/ finishing techniques for the underside of the crown
- how the crown is attached to the head
- neat finishes to the crown headdress. (Crown decoration ideas are only talked about)
Petersham edges are not included in this method. All details for the course will be in booking details including suppliers and blocks that are suitable for this course.
