Students will learn how to block a free-form cloche hat using a fur felt hood (hat body) and a balsa utility block. You will use steam to soften the felt and your fingers to manipulate it into pleats and folds that are pinned into place until dry. The technique allows for a wide range of design possibilities, but is especially suited for 1920’s style flapper hats.
