There’s a growing mood in the hat-wearing community. Clients are increasingly expressing a preference for cruelty-free millinery. We tend to hear this most in  concerns about the use of feathers.

In this class, Laure will take birds out of the picture. We’ll focus on techniques to make beautiful plumage from cotton and synthetic textiles (not silk, to keep it strictly vegan). Students will learn how to use textile painting techniques to create gorgeous colors and patterns on a range of feather shapes. Laura will also demonstrate how to use other materials—from fibers to horsehair—for other feather options. We’ll use these methods to  create realistic plumage, and also fantasy trims nature never thought of!
