VIRTUAL Painted Organdie Poppy

- Learning the techniques involved in painting, manipulating and constructing an organdie poppy and leaves.
- How to form the centre buds and stamens for the poppy
Level – Any
You will need:
- Paper pattern (emailed prior to the course)
- 1/2 meter of white cotton organdie
- 22-gauge white paper covered floristry/ sugar flower wire
- Acid dyes (Black, Green and one other colour of your choice for the flower petals)
- Artist paint brushes. A selection. (1 medium brush for wetting petals and 3-4 small pointed brushes for applying each dye colour)
- Glass jars with lids for mixing and storing wet dyes in
- Extra glass jars or pots for clean water and rinsing brushes
- Latex gloves/Washing up gloves
- Old newspapers/newsprint to paint on. (Or alternatively some absorbent paper that will soak up dye. Cartridge paper does not work very well)
- Roll of green paper florists stem tape
- A skein of black or brown embroidery thread
- Cotton wool
- Double sided tape. No wider than 2cm
- Pegs
- Fabric glue (SOBO is good)
Extra sundries
- Scissors
- Dressmakers’ pins
- Hairspray (optional)
- Iron
- Hairdryer
You will leave with:
- A finished painted poppy and leaf trim
