Students will learn how to measure, cut and sew veiling, as well as the different types and widths that are available to modern-day milliners. We will work with 3 types of veiling in class: Russian, “Vintage” Honeycomb and Extra-Wide Diamond English Veiling and make 3 sample veils: blocked veil on base, gathered veil on headband, and a blocked & wired veil. This is a technique-based course (as opposed to project-based) so you will be working on veils only and not making a finished hat or fascinator.
