VINTAGE HATS & HEADPIECES
March 2, 2019 - March 9, 2019
2 & 9 March
What you will learn
Taking Inspiration from the first part of the 1900s, you will learn how make a hat or a headpiece inspired by the glamour and elegance of the 1920s (think ‘The Great Gatsby, Party Scene’). Or, you could opt for a more tailored look like a jaunty 1940s percher hat (think Elsa Schiaparelli). This course is suitable for beginners and those with some experience.
By the end of the course you will be able to
- Use blocking as well as cutting and sewing to make a vintage inspired hat or headpiece.
- Utilise millinery techniques to construct a hat or headpiece
- Use balance and proportion
- Identify techniques for keeping a percher hat or large headpiece securely attached to the head
