The Millinery Studio
(part of the Radiant Works artists’ studios, Huddersfield) is a well-equipped millinery studio – a place to enjoy and learn the art of millinery with experienced milliners Sue Carter and Marie Thornton.
Sue and Marie teach traditional and contemporary millinery techniques and offer a range of workshops and masterclasses to suit all skill levels. Class sizes are small to allow individual tuition.
Marie and Sue met as part of the Making Headway Project at Hatworks, Hat Museum in Stockport. Marie studied HNC millinery at Leeds College of Art and Sue studied City & Guilds millinery in Huddersfield.
They make hats together under the name Millinery Magpies born of their fondness for collecting, recycling and upcycling from their boxes of treasure.
