On this 2 day Straw Hat course you will learn how to block, shape and manipulate sinamay straw. You can choose to block a brim hat such as Fedora or Trilby or you can chose to block a smaller hat such as a pillbox, beret or fascinator. You will also learn how to wire a hat to ensure it holds its shape, how to curve a petersham ribbon and invisibly stitch into your hat.
After blocking a hat you will proceed onto learning trimming and decorating. You will be introduced to techniques such as creating sinamay rolling edge, twists and hatbands, stitching a veil and much more.
By the end of the workshop you will gain invaluable millinery skills and leave with a finished hat you created yourself.
Please note: the steps and curriculum of the course may vary depending on the hat design/materials chosen by every individual student.
The Course duration is 3 hours each day.
Time availability is flexible to accommodate your schedule: morning or evening hours are available.
