Having studied fashion in The Hague, Berry attended the London College of Fashion to specialize in the traditional, artisanal techniques of millinery. In 1990, she established her own atelier in the Netherlands: Berry Rutjes Jr. Hat Design. This is where she designs and makes hats the traditional way, from fashionable and floppy, to flamboyant fedoras.

Workshops open to individuals and groups and include Couture Hat Making, Fascinator and Cocktail Hat making and Silk Flower making.

Berry wanted to give everyone the opportunity of learning how to make a hat, from home, and at a time that was convenient for them. This is why she developed the Online Masterclass series as part of the Dutch Hat Academy. This masterclass – for beginners and advanced – teaches you all professional tricks of the trade.
