Thermoplastic Orchids with Maor Zabar
April 21 - April 22
We welcome back our good friend Maor Zabar, internationally renowned designer.
These sculpting techniques with thermoplastic is one of Maor’s favourite ways to create hats!
It is a new technique which combines two materials thermoplastic and silk. As an artist it allows him to create sculptured flowers and other plants or organic shapes. Students will research their piece first by studying the structure, outline and color of orchids and then assemble them together using this unique technique. Once done, students will tend to the small details by painting, shading and adding embroidered beads.
Whether you are a milliner or a hobbyist and want to experience working with thermoplastic or you are an artist who enjoys creating three dimensional object and wish to learn an amazing new techniques, this workshop is for you.
In this class you will learn how to manipulate these materials by making patterns, using folding and reshaping techniques as well as exploring different colouring skills. Finally, you will create the headpiece base and attach all pieces together.
Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to sculpt thermoplastic with Maor, just like he does it with his orchid collection.
We will host you at the Lygon Arms in Chipping Campden where you will be treated like royalty with a top class lunch and refreshments all day.
