Virtual Workshop, hosted on Zoom, by Anne Tomlin

In this 2-part workshop you will learn how to make a silk peony and bud. I will show you some of my flower-making techniques to make a realistic flower. The skills you learn over the two days can be applied to other peonies and flowers. I will also provide a worksheet, templates and supplier list.

This workshop will run over two days, 3 hours each day online via Zoom. I will send the tutorial, templates and all that you need to take part after you have made the payment. A recording of the workshop will be sent to you.

I will show you how I make this particular peony but I will also show examples of how you can adapt it to other types of peony.

You don’t need to cut out your templates as you can trace through the silk. I will show you some methods of cutting out on day one.

1. Different techniques for painting silk, mixing dyes, layering colour.
2. Making carpels and stamens.
3. Shaping petals.
4. Construction for realism.
5. Making bud covers.
6. Making a bud.
7. Making leaves, hiding wire, making shades of green dye.
8. Binding stems and adding leaves.
