Millinery Module: The Business Of Millinery (10 wks)

9.30am – 12.30pm (UK Time) plus an additional mentoring session per week

Your Tutors: 

Both Jenny and Marie will be co-tutoring this course, the content is based on their experience running a successful millinery business for the last 15 years and previous experience working in the retail sector in business planning and marketing.

Who is the course for?

Students who want to start monetising their millinery passion.  This could be as a small scale hobby business, a wholesale business or a customer-facing operation.

About the Course

The aim of the course is to introduce students to all aspects of running a profitable millinery business.  The first part of the course looks at your goals, your competition and your market.  The second part looks at understanding your customer, your products and the service you provide.  Finally, the latter part of the course tackles branding, financial planning and marketing strategies.  Throughout we will be sharing our first-hand experience and mentoring students in how to build a successful millinery business.

The following themes will be explored over the 10 weeks:

Week 2: Competition, Market and SWOT Analysis

Week 3: Understanding Your Customer

Week 4: Branding and Identity

Week 5: Your Products

Week 6: Your Customer Service

Week 7: Financial Planning and Forecasts

Week 8: Marketing Strategies: Social Media

Week 9: Marketing Strategies: PR

Week 10: Challenges and moving forwards
